The long-vacant building at 1225 St. Charles Avenue that formerly housed the Audubon Hotel is finally posed for redevelopment.

According to records filed with the city, developers Blake Jones and David Gindin will be redeveloping the property into a 30 key hotel, with a small bar and coffee shop.  They have secured a 59 year lease from the owners of the property, Bonquois, LLC out of Baton Rouge.

The building is currently in awful condition according to the filing.  Renovation plans include a complete restoration, along with a new canopy, signage, 24 hour security, and valet parking.

The current zoning is HU-MU, so the developers are seeking a conditional use approval to operate a hotel.

Jones is also the owner of the Blake Hotel, the St. Pierre Hotel, and the Andrew Jackson Hotel (among others).

The architects and designer are Coleman Partners Architects.
