The Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission (“JEDCO”) has selected Chicago-based architecture and design firm Perkins+Will to develop a new master plan the Churchill Technology & Business Park in Avondale.

In October 2017, JEDCO released an RFP to develop the 480 acre park.  The planning will take 10 months.  The deal pays Perkins+Will up to $288,000 and requires that they engage in a public participation process and create a master plan for the park, including a land use plan, infrastructure improvements, an analysis of and recommendations for amendments to the park’s covenant restrictions.

Perkins+Will were one of ten applications that responded to the RFP, and got the nod because of their expertise in developing master plans for business and technology parks.   JEDCO is hopeful that the final plan goes beyond the typical business park, and could include a larger mixed-use development, complete with retail, office, residential, and industrial.

Churchill currently houses the JEDCO offices, the organization’s Conference and Business Innovation Center and the Patrick F. Taylor Science and Technology Academy.
