Tulane is making significant progress on the construction of its new $72 million, 30,000 person seat football arena, Yulman Stadium.

Reports are that construction alone will cost $63.5 million, and the remainder will be eaten up by soft costs.  The major donors are Tom and Gayle Benson ($7.5 million to name the field), Jill and Avie Glazer (mufti-million dollar gift to name the Clubhouse) and $15 million from the Yulman family to name the venue. The school says they are still $20 million away from their fundraising goal.

From the pictures and video below, you can see that the stadium has its shape.

Tulane says they have already sold more than 80 percent of its “stadium-builders'” seats – which commits donors to a $100,000 gift over a period of five years. It is working on the next layer of donation to the stadium – the $50,000 gift over five years.

Construction should be finished in time for next season, although it won’t be ready for the season opener Aug. 30 against Southeastern Louisiana.
