Developer Peter Gardner will redevelop an old Baptist mission center in the Irish Channel that closed in 2010 into 10 condominiums, reports our friends at the Uptown Messenger.

The old red-brick building at 729 Second Street is under contract to be purchased from New Orleans Baptist Ministries.

Gardner plans to convert the 10,000 square foot building into condos, which will feature a number of parking spaces on a lot facing First Street, which Gardner would also own when he closes.

Gardner’s past projects include the redevelopment of the strip mall at 4600 Freret, which houses Company Burger, Anytime Fitness, and Freret Street Yoga, and the shopping center at 1029 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd, which houses Dinner Lab, Equip Fitness, Brady’s Wine Warehouse, and Papa John’s.
