New Orleans-based MK Red, the development group behind the Baker’s Row condos at the old Hubig Pie site, just secured design approval from the Architectural Review Committee for their luxury condo project at 3200 Chartres Street next to Crescent Park called 32HUNDRED.

MK Red partner Mike Bosio told CanalStreetBeat that their “biggest influences when designing on this prominent site were views of the river/city skyline and the industrial context existing in the Bywater. We push ourself to design a timeless structure that would set a precedent for new construction along the river. Our goal for the building was to be an extension of the Crescent Park, utilizing greenage, corten-like material, and concrete/stucco.”

The building will be 35,000 square feet, include 17 parking spaces and 1,750 sf of retail space.

The condos start on the second floor with 18 foot elevations, so all units will have great views of either the Bywater or the river and Crescent Park.  Most of the units will be 2 and 3 bedrooms, and all will feature balconies to connect residents to the outside as much as possible.

The project now goes to the Historic Districts Landmark Commission on Jan. 14th.
