The proposed hotel at 1148 S. Peters St. by developers Clayton Randle and David Hecht secured unanimous approval from the Historic District Landmarks Commission this week.

Just last month, they secured a waiver from the Board of Zoning Adjustments to build up to 17 stories.

The entire project would include 200,000 square feet in two separate hotels, with about 400 hotel rooms between the two.

The project involves the renovation of an old brick warehouse at the corner of South Peters and Calliope and new construction of a 17-story, 184-foot tower on the parking lot behind the building.    It would also include a restaurant, ballroom, meeting space, three-story parking garage with 165 spaces, and a courtyard connecting both buildings.  No word yet on what flag the developers will use.

Eskew+Dumez+Ripple Architects is the designer and architect.
