Hotel developer Amit Patel just purchased the property at the corner of Elysian Fields Avenue and Decatur Street for $3.5 million, and now has released plans to develop that site in to a new Hampton Inn & Suites, according to Gambit.

Patel recently sent a letter to neighbors asking for their support to build the 119-key hotel fronting Elysian Fields Avenue. Patel and his team plan to hold a neighborhood meeting Oct. 17 at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Burgundy Street to talk about their plans and answer questions, according to the letter.

The location is the site of the proposed Elisio Lofts, a mixed-use development proposed and later abandoned by developer Sean Cummings.   Patel plans for the buildings not to exceed 55 feet, which was one of the deal killers for Cummings’ project.

Patel needs to secure a conditional use permit to operate a hotel from the City Council.

New Orleans-based Alecha Architecture is the architect.

Patel is also building several other projects in the New Orleans area, including a 115-room Hilton Homewood Suites on Severn Avenue, a 120-room Marriott SpringHill Suites, and a $14 million 119-room Residence Inn at 1080 Elmwood Park Blvd. in Harahan.
