New Tenants Now Open at Stirling’s Hammond Square

Justice, Shane’s Rib Shack and Popcorn Bistro all opened this month at Stirling Properties’ Hammond Square shopping center.

Justice, a leading national retailer of preteen girl’s fashion, will occupy 3,150 square feet.

Shane’s Rib Shack, known for its slow-cooked ribs, hand-chopped chicken and pork, and many southern sides, occupies 2,810 square feet.

Popcorn Bistro, a gourmet popcorn store offering 153 flavors that are made fresh daily and made with 100% all natural ingredients, occupies 1,200 square feet.

“We are excited to welcome our new tenants,” said Amy Allen, Property Manager for Stirling Properties. “With Holiday Shopping right around the corner, we are glad to expand the offerings at Hammond Square for the residents of Tangipahoa Parish.”

The original Hammond Square Mall opened in 1977 with two anchors, D. H. Holmes (later purchased and converted to Dillard’s) and Sears along with two levels of specialty tenants. In 1979, JCPenney was added as the third anchor to complete the 431,000 square foot mall.  In 2007, Stirling Properties purchased the shopping center began the redevelopment of the mall into an open-air power and lifestyle shopping center.

HammondSquare The new Hammond Square celebrated its grand opening in October 2009 with over 850,000 square feet, nearly double its original size, with over 35 different stores and restaurants.

    The typical open-air storefront would be greatly enhanced if there was a canvas awning shielding the entrance and/or showcase windows

    Sucks that they replaced the mall with this ugly strip mall. The Hammond square mall used to have a really cool interior.
