Pan-American Life Insurance Group has announced they will be leasing an additional 9,000 square feet of space at 601 Poydras St., its headquarters in downtown New Orleans.

Local real estate firm Stirling Properties owns the building, which it purchased from San Diego-based Equastone LLC for $60.9 million in 2011.

Pan-American has been headquartered in the building since 1981, and in 2014 signed a ten year extension for space at the building.

Pan-American just announced in its earnings call that revenues grew to $800 million in 2015.

Founded in New Orleans in 1911, Pan-American has roughly 600 employees in New Orleans, and more than 1,650 employees worldwide.

The Pan American Life Center is a 28-story, granite-clad, Class A office tower that contains approximately 674,000 square feet.  The building was erected in 1980 and designed by the prestigious architecture firm of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.

Current listing rates for leasing space range from $19-20 per square foot according to listings on LACDB.
