Last month, the new owners of The Pontchartrain Hotel on St. Charles Avenue filed plans with the city to renovate the hotel.
The plans called for a revival of the hotel’s entertainments spaces as well as upgrade the guest rooms. Minor modifications to the exterior are planned as well. The hotel is probably best known for the fact that the deal to create the New Orleans Saints was signed in its Bayou Bar.
The new owners also revealed plans for a rooftop lounge and a restored Silver Whistle coffee shop on the first floor, according to UptownMessenger.
The City Planning commission approved the plans last Tuesday. The plans now go to the City Council. The hotel plans to start construction in April 2015 and finish by January 2016.
