New York based retailer The Art of Shaving has secured a lease with the Rubenstein family and will be housed adjacent to the family’s world-renowned 90 year-old men’s store.

According to a permit filed with the city, The Art of Shaving’s build out will cost $250,000.  The new address will be 624 Canal Street.

The Art of Shaving is a national chain of retail establishments that sells high-end shaving supplies and grooming products.   It was founded in 1996 by Myriam Zaoui and Eric Malka, and purchased by Procter & Gamble, owner of the Gillette brand, in 2009.  The company currently operates more than 100 stores throughout the United States. The company, which was started in a kitchen, is now a worldwide organization still nurtured by the founders’ talent and passion. They have succeeded in creating a brand with a mission, one that promises to be a household name for generations to come.

“We are thrilled that The Art of Shaving shares our same vision for Canal St, which has always been the heart of New Orleans,” said Kenny Rubenstein. “Rubensteins has been on Canal Street for 90 years and the addition of The Art of Shaving complements our products and services perfectly.  Now you leave Downtown feeling confident and looking your absolute best, from head to toe!”

Marking its 90th anniversary in 2014, Rubensteins is a high quality men’s store and a familiar Canal Street landmark. Occupying six historic properties on Canal Street and St Charles Avenue, the store carries some of the most exclusive brands in men’s fashion such as Brioni, Oxxford, Zegna, Canali, Paul Smith and Ralph Lauren.

The Art of Shaving is due to start construction this week with plans to open in the coming weeks.
