Developers planning a casino resort in the Slidell area are expanding the project by $75 million before it heads to St. Tammany Parish voters for consideration.
Peninsula Pacific Entertainment (P2E) proposed building a casino resort southeast of Slidell near the Interstate 10 twin span bridge and along Lake Pontchartrain.
The entire project would include a hotel, restaurants, convention space, pool, event space, and more dining options. A new district office for the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Department has also been proposed to be built on the property.
St. Tammany Parish government is in support of the project, which is estimated to generate nearly 1,700 jobs during construction, and almost 1,000 direct jobs once completed. In addition to committing to fill half with St. Tammany residents and minority and veteran subcontractors and vendors, the company will give 5% of gaming revenue to the parish and $35 million for a sports and tourism complex.
The voters of St. Tammany will eventually decide on the future of the proposal during a vote on an upcoming election.
