Permit for demolition

In February we reported that a demolition  permit was pulled for the old shell station at Lee Circle (919 St. Charles Avenue), which had been vacant since Katrina.

It looks like two weeks ago, construction crews started the demolition on the site.

The parcel is being cleared for the new three-story office building for the Greater New Orleans Foundation.

The new 20,000 square foot building will double the size of GNOF’s current offices at the K&B Building across the street and comes with a roughly $8 million price tag

The building will feature a 1,500-square-foot assembly center for nonprofits, an 1,100-square-feet coffee shop,  a 750 square-foot office for startup businesses, a resource center, a library and more office space.

GNOF purchased the property in December for about $1.9 million.
