Plans filed today with ARC Committee for the City of New Orleans show the proposed master plan for the Avenue Oaks Hotel. This will be an expansion and renaming of the current Prytania Park Hotel. Owned by the Halpern family the project will be constructed in two Phases.
Heres what the corner currently looks like:
Phase 1 will include a 5 story building with 48 hotel rooms on the corner of St Charles Avenue and Melpomene, 66 surface parking spaces, and a renovation of the Halpern Furniture Building to a restaurant. Phase II, which is to eventually be built on the surface parking lot, will consist of another 5 story building with 90 hotel rooms, two level parking deck with 113 spaces, and a rooftop garden. Timeline for completion of the first phase is 4th quarter 2015 or beginning of 2016.
Architect on the project is Studio WTA.
