A map showing a targeted area of the city from ULI’s Hines competition.
Our friends at the Urban Land Institute (ULI) of Louisiana and RIDE New Orleans are hosting a “transit” pub crawl through the city tomorrow. The tour will feature two of the city’s top experts on the future of transit, and will give attendees an inside look at the future of public transportation and some of the issues that the city currently faces.
The tour will be lead by Cedric Grant, the Executive Director of Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, and Rachel Heiligman, Executive Director of Ride New Orleans.
Grant oversees the City’s capital development, infrastructure projects, and community development initiatives. Grant plans to speak to the long term planning and use of Union Passenger Terminal and the construction of new streetcar lines including an update on the new Rampart/St. Claude line.
Heiligman is in charge of strategic direction and running the day-to-day operations of Ride New Orleans. She will provide an inside look at the post Katrina recovery of the transportation systems in New Orleans and where Ride would like to see us go from here.
