Textron Systems has announced a significant expansion across multiple sites in Southeast Louisiana, involving a $5.8 million investment focused on Slidell and New Orleans East. This development is expected to create approximately 133 direct jobs, along with 223 indirect jobs, as phased construction work kicks off in 2026.

The expansion will span three existing facilities, with specific locations identified as Gause Boulevard and Stone Road in Slidell, and 19401 Chef Menteur Highway in New Orleans. A substantial portion of the budget, $5.3 million, will be allocated to upgrades at the Gause Boulevard site, while $500,000 will go towards engineering work on Stone Road.

The project is set to bolster Textron’s defense manufacturing and shipyard operations, primarily supporting the production of military vehicles and naval systems. State incentives include a $600,000 performance-based grant and LED FastStart workforce support, underscoring the collaboration between Textron and Louisiana Economic Development (LED).

Slidell is poised to benefit significantly, with 111 of the 133 direct jobs expected to be located there, boasting an average salary of approximately $95,600 annually. The expansion in New Orleans East is projected to add around 22 jobs with an average annual salary of $70,955.

Construction is slated to begin in 2026, with the timeline extending into 2027, though specific milestone dates have yet to be disclosed. Beyond job creation, this investment is expected to influence industrial vacancy rates, lease opportunities, and subcontractor demand within the region.
