An application was filed with the city to construct a new complex of buildings for Desire Street Ministries at 3600 Desire Pkwy in the Desire Neighborhood. A description of the project according to the permit application:
A new development of three buildings – a childcare facility (Education (E)), a pediatric / women’s clinic (Business (B)), and a wellness community center (Assembly (A-3)) – are to be constructed where an elementary school (previously demolished) was located in a Light Industrial district. The project includes the construction of the three separate buildings and the associated site development and parking. An existing building will remain onsite that contains some offices for the owner of the property. A conditional use application for the Childcare component of the project has been made to the Office of City Planning for the conditional use and for a parking variance for (5) parking spaces less than the Ordinance requires.
