The New Orleans Jewish Community Center (JCC) plans to break ground on a major renovation and expansion to their uptown campus later this month that includes new childcare facilities, a new sports complex, and newly renovated pool and water areas.

The expansion will add 14,000 square feet of new space, and will include a recreation pool with a splash pad and slide, a new heated outdoor lap pool, a toddler pool, and an indoor therapy pool.  A new third floor will be constructed, which will house more fitness classrooms for yoga, pilates, cycling, and personal training.

The renovations will add a new dedicated entrance and two new classrooms for the nursery school, along with a multipurpose youth activity center and snack bar area.

The last major renovation was almost 20 years ago in 1997.  The building is 50 years old.

Groundbreaking will occur September 29, and the project is expected to be complete by October 2017.

Mathes Brierre Architects is the architect.
