Developer Dr. Narinder Gupta’s proposed 122 room Hotel Loren on Canal Street won its final approval from the New Orleans City Council Thursday (June 18).  The approval comes one week after the developer secured the blessing of the City Planning Commission.

unanimous support from the City Planning Commission this week.  The project now just needs final approval from the City Council to become a reality.

The hotel will include 47,000-square-feet, including the addition of two new floors, for a total of seven stories.  The first floor will feature a restaurant.

Gupta purchased the building in 2013 for $800,000 from Iberia Bank. The property had been on the market for years.

HMS Architects APC is the architect for the project.
