We’ve been waiting years for the proposed Virgin Hotel at 550 Baronne Street to move forward after getting City Council approval in 2015 and announcing a ground-breaking in 2017.

Mathes Brierre, the project architects, filed the construction permit set of plans last month.  The project calls for a 14 story, new construction Virgin Hotel with 224 rooms and 260 total beds.  The building will encompass 146,000 square feet and include meeting rooms, bars, restaurants, and a roof top F&B space.

Dallas-based Gatehouse Capital and New Orleans-based DAG Development were the original developers on the project, but it now appears that Delaware-based Buccini/Pollin Group is the new developer, or is at least involved now at this stage.

New Orleans-based Broadmoor, LLC is the general contractor, New Orleans-based Logan Killen is the interior designer, and Dallas-based CallisonRTKL is another design firm.
