After a $140 million redevelopment by MCC Development, the Jung Hotel & Residences is now open in New Orleans’ Biomedical Innovation District. The property is located at 1500 Canal Street, close to the French Quarter, Louis Armstrong Park, the CBD, and more.
The Jung Hotel & Residences incorporates a hotel, residences, retail, parking and other amenities. The property features 207 luxury guest rooms, over 21,000 square feet of meeting space with 15 rooms, and a 12,000 square foot exhibition hall.
“The city’s first-its-kind, comprehensive mixed-use development is designed for an ultra-luxury market and developed by the New Orleans Hotel Collection, a locally owned company known for breathing new life into historic hotels,” shared a release from the launch.
From 1971 through 2012, the hotel was primarily vacant, and presented an abandoned eyesore along Canal Street. Developer Joe Jaeger with MCC Development purchased the building in 2012 and started planning for its comeback.
“The Jung is a community social hub that reflects NOLA’s genuine cultural milieu while ushering in a new era of commerce,” the release continued.
