1031 Canal, the $70 million high rise planned for the corner of Canal and Rampart Streets, has been languishing for some time.
Their building permit was under review back in November and in February we got our hands on the plans and renderings. The building plans called for 240 luxury residences and 15 penthouses with 56,000-square feet of retail space at the edge of the Quarter.
A few weeks back our friends at Curbed wondered what the hold up was, and as WWLTV reports, now we know: developer Mohan Kailas is disputing the $383,028 in building fees and plan reviews for the 17-story project.
Word on the street is that Kailas is scheduled to meet with city officials this week about the unpaid fees.
Since this is such a huge project, the department of Safety and Permits is only requiring a portion of the large $179,212 payment to keep the permitting review process moving forward.
