Last we heard from developers of the planned high rise at 1031 Canal Street, they had received their demo permit, released their final building plans, and then the project stalled over a dispute with the city over permit fees.

According to nola.com, the Kailas Companies finally started driving piles at the site, “600 concrete pilings more than 90 feet into the ground” according to the article.

Kailas also asked the city to approve adding 353 hotel rooms to the project, which was approved last year.  The hotel will now be on floors 8 through 14, with the rest of the building dedicated to apartments, along with 56,000-square feet of retail space.

Citadel Builders is the general contractor and Harry Baker Smith Architects is the architect of record.
