In addition to the $8 million expansion already underway,the owners of the Westside Shopping Center North received approval from the Gretna City Council for a brand new, 11,250 square-foot building for retail office space.

The office building is the latest addition to a large expansion started last year by Realm Realty of Houston.  The shopping center gained several new tenants in Cavender’s, Planet Fitness, Auto Zone and Smoothie King.  The anchor, Academy Sports, also increased the size of its footprint.

The increase in sales at the shopping center is bringing in more revenue to the city.  According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Westside saw a 14 percent increase in sales taxes for the month of August compared to the same month in 2012.

The Center contains approximately 268,000 square feet of leaseable space and is currently 96% leased. An additional 6.12 acre tract is available for future development.  The Center is located about 3 miles from New Orleans’ central business district.
