Sean Josephs and Mani Dawes,  two highly revered NYC restaurateur, are planning to open a New Orleans restaurant on the corner of Magazine Street and Nashville Avenue, reports Uptown Messenger.  The 89 seat restaurant is part of an upcoming redevelopment project by Butler Callahan Holdings.

Butler Callahan has been working on the development for over a year and are the same developers who demolished the Roly Poly at Jefferson and Tchoupitoulas to make may for a new Regions Bank.

The restaurant owners have a history of running successful businesses. Dawes is the owner of a tapas restaurant known as Tía Pol in Manhattan. Whereas, Josephs owns Char No. 4 in Brooklyn and Maysville in Manhattan.

The restaurant will stay open until 10:30 or 11 p.m. on weeknights and 12 a.m. on weekends. The menu includes baked goods in the morning, oysters at lunch and casual fine dining at night. Bourbon will also be an important component of the soon to be named restaurant.

Josephs stated in a meeting with neighbors that it was his dream to open a neighborhood restaurant in New Orleans and serve the community. Reactions towards the new restaurant was mixed. Some neighbors are excited about the prospect of two highly respected New York City restaurateurs opening a restaurant in New Orleans, whereas others are worried about the establishment’s impact on the neighborhood. Josephs and Dawe insisted that the scale of the restaurant will not be huge, and they will help find a solution to the neighborhood’s parking problem.

Josephs will continue to run all of his restaurants by commuting from New York to New Orleans. However, he will spend more time in New Orleans once the restaurant on the corner of Magazine Street and Nashville Avenue opens. Josephs and Dawes goal is to open the restaurant in spring of 2015.
