Last year, Ochsner Health System announced plans for a $250 million expansion, including the addition of six stories to the West Tower of its primary hospital complex on Jefferson Highway. We visited the site last week to get an update and snap photos.
Construction on the first phase is well underway. From the photos, it looks like 3 additional stories have been framed and the rest are in process. Part of the exterior on the first expansion floor is also being put in place.
The first phase of the OMC West Tower, once complete, will add six floors with 34 private rooms on each floor to bring inpatient capacity from 602 beds to 767 beds.
Ochsner financed the project with a bond sale. Rozas Ward is the architect, Broadmoor is the general contractor, and Jacobs are the engineers.
Check out photos of the construction below.

This article couldn’t be more incorrect… project is nowhere near 250 mill. and Jacobs are NOT the engineers…
also Jeff Plaza info is way off… just stop reporting because this is all wrong.
Hi Nathan,
Thank you for your comments. We visited the site and the Jacobs logo is very clearly listed on the signage. If you have other information please feel free to share it.
Thanks,
