9th Ward Stadium Inc. has announced two significant partnerships, naming Raising Cane’s as the official stadium partner and LCMC Health with naming rights for the playing surface. The facility, planned for the Upper 9th Ward in New Orleans, will support community athletics and serve as the home field for George Washington Carver High School.
These partnerships mark a substantial step in the private fundraising efforts for the stadium, which has been a long-planned community project. Raising Cane’s founder, Todd Graves, and LCMC Health CEO, Greg Feirn, have both expressed commitment towards the development. The partnerships are expected to provide vital branding opportunities and potential economic benefits for the surrounding area.
The stadium will feature an artificial turf playing field, grandstand seating for approximately 3,700 spectators, and various facilities including locker rooms, concessions, and parking. An adjacent track and field complex is also part of the future development plans, with fundraising efforts ongoing. TKTMJ Inc. has been chosen as the general contractor to lead the construction.
No specific timeline for the start of construction or the expected opening has been disclosed, as the project team is still finalizing the stadium operator. The announcement of these partnerships is expected to intensify investment interest in the Upper 9th Ward’s real estate and service sectors.
The presence of such recognizable brands as Raising Cane’s and LCMC Health is likely to set a precedent for future corporate involvement in local nonprofit-led developments. The project promises to create not only a hub for sports but also commercial opportunities and a boost for the local economy.
