OnPath Credit Union plans to relocate its corporate headquarters from Metairie to a new operational campus on 5.5 acres at 1625 W. Causeway Approach in Mandeville. The campus will house about 143 employees, with room to add positions as the credit union grows, and OnPath is targeting completion in the first quarter of 2027.
The move consolidates administrative leadership, member support teams, and specialized operations departments in one location. OnPath said the facility will carry updated workplace technology intended to improve coordination between departments and service to members. President and CEO Jared Freeman said the credit union’s growth had created a need for a facility that could support expanding operations.
Location was part of the calculation. OnPath expects the Causeway Approach site, at the north end of the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, to help it recruit employees from both Greater New Orleans and the Northshore, drawing on a labor pool that spans both sides of the lake.
The relocation follows a run of expansion. OnPath reports more than 100,000 members and $1.51 billion in assets, ranking it Louisiana’s fourth-largest credit union, and it is the largest credit union headquartered in the Greater New Orleans region by assets and membership. The cooperative agreed last year to acquire Heritage Bank of St. Tammany, a federally chartered savings bank based in Covington, a deal that deepens its existing Northshore presence. In January, OnPath announced its entry into Acadiana with the purchase of nearly an acre along Camellia Boulevard near River Ranch in Lafayette.
OnPath was founded in 1961 at Avondale Shipyards to serve shipyard workers and grew from a workplace institution into a regional cooperative serving Southeast Louisiana. Moving its headquarters out of Jefferson Parish after more than six decades in the metro’s South Shore core marks a notable shift for the organization.
For St. Tammany, the relocation adds a corporate headquarters and nearly 150 office jobs to a parish that has led the metro in commercial transaction volume this year. It also extends a pattern of institutional office users choosing the Northshore, alongside Big-D Companies’ new Gulf Coast office in Covington and NOMAR’s renovated Mandeville office, at a time when the parish recorded 58 commercial sales worth $91.3 million in the third quarter alone.
