The City of New Orleans recently filed plans to turn a portion of Convention Center Blvd. from Poydras to Henderson in to a linear park.

Plans include a moving walkway, bike lanes, and tree-lined plazas.  The park also includes foundations, green walls, water walls, and shaded areas.

The project is being designed by Manning Architects, Eskew+Dumez+Ripple, Spackman Mossop and Michaels, and Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design.

What is being done with all of the expensive palm trees that were planted on Convention Center Blvd. not that very long ago? I hope they plan on replanting them somewhere else because this would be a ridiculous waste of money.

Awesome– a one-way bike lane without physical separation from motorists. But seriously, a cycle track would be so great here. Hopefully that makes it into the project.
