N. Galvez Reconstruction Project via City of New Orleans
Reconstruction of the $6.7 million N. Galvez St. reconstruction project between Elysian Fields Ave. and Almonaster Blvd. project in the St. Roch neighborhood is now complete.
The scope of work for the N. Galvez St. project included;
-
Installing new subsurface sewer, water and drainage lines;
-
Removing and replacing sidewalks and driveways aprons;
-
Installing Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections; and
-
Repaving the roadway in concrete and roadway striping including a designated bike lane.
The addition of a bike lane on N. Galvez St. brings the Citywide total miles of bikeways to 120 miles. Including bikeways in transportation projects is one way in which the City meets the commitment to building Complete Streets.
The N. Galvez St. reconstruction project was designed by CB&I and constructed by Durr Heavy Construction, LLC.
