Boh Bros. Construction is building a new $8.8 million asphalt plant on France Road near its existing facility.
The company needs to increase its asphalt production with equipment that is too large for its current site to accommodate according to its CEO Robert Boh.
$2 million in renovations are planned for the site, which is owned by the Port of New Orleans.
Boh Bros. rent at the 21.99-acre site will be $340,000 a year. A 13,000-square-foot building on the site will be used as an office and testing laboratory, and the port will demolish a vacant building on the site damaged during Hurricane Katrina.
