Holiday Inn Club Vacations has opened its first New Orleans Resort at 203 Carondelet St. in downtown New Orleans.
A company affiliated with Holiday Inn acquired the former Maritime Building from New Orleans developer Marcel Wisznia, who redeveloped the property that was once New Orleans’ first skyscraper when it was built in 1893. Wisnia had restored and redeveloped the $40 million project after Katrina.
The new resort offers full-size apartments with one- and two-bedroom layouts that include kitchens and living rooms. The first floor of the resort contains a Marketplace and the Maritime Bar & Lounge. The top floor houses a fitness center, outdoor dipping pool and rooftop terrace. The property opened in mid-January.
The lobby has a large mural by artist Mila Sketch that celebrates the culture of the city.
