Last summer, New Orleans-based HRI Properties announced it was working on a historic hotel conversion in Philadelphia in partnership with Realen Properties. Now that project is set to open this summer.
HRI and Realen are redeveloping the old Liberty Title Building, located one block from historic Philadelphia City Hall square and built in 1925 in to a 179-key Aloft by Starwood hotel.
The building was originally constructed as the headquarters for the Liberty Title and Trust Company. Many historic features remain, primarily in the main bank lobby, which will be transformed into the new hotel lobby and WXYZ bar. The converted building will also offer guests an outdoor deck, meeting space, and direct internal access to the convention center.
Plans also include a contemporary-style addition of about three stories that will wrap around the building’s northern and eastern sides and provide direct access to the adjacent Pennsylvania Convention Center. Completion is expected this summer.
