Rendering of Proposed ‘s New Lakefront Boardwalk

On Tuesday Kenner Mayor Mike Yenni announced his plan for an entertainment district on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain anchored by the Treasure Chest casino.

According to The Advocate, Kenner officials are negotiating with Treasure Chest to figure how the casino could anchor the larger district and have drafted RFPs for developer participation.

In addition to the casino, Yenni’s dream calls for a hotel, luxury condominiums or apartments, retail, a marina, amusement rides, and public open space.

Yenni hopes to break ground on the Laketown development by 2016 with an estimated completion by 2018.
