The Barwil mixed-use development sits inside a former candy and elixirs warehouse called the Barwil Building at 307 Tchoupitoulas Street. The lower level will soon be filled with commercial tenants, with residential units on the upper floors.
The developer of the project is Trinion Properties, a firm that focuses on residential properties in the New Orleans area and abroad.
Trinion Properties restored the building over a 10 year period, and had originally planned to build out two units on the penthouse level. Instead, the team noticed how there was, “not much new construction in the high-end market that gave people very much space or privacy so we switched gears and decided to build a single unit instead.”
“With its high ceilings, salvaged 19th-century industrial girder beam and columns, extra-wide plank European white oak floors and solid oak custom 8-foot tall doors, the penthouse would never be mistaken for cookie cutter new construction,” shared The Barwil website. The penthouse condo spans the entire fifth floor of the building with three bedrooms and three bathrooms for an asking price of $2,150,000.
More details on the commercial tenants are coming soon. Check out the newly staged penthouse video and photos below:
