Louisiana Art WorksLouisiana ArtWorks, the art hub and studio on Howard Avenue financed with public funds, is now under contract for $6.2 million to be sold to the New Orleans Culinary and Hospitality Institute (NOCHI), a non-profit hospitality, culinary, and restaurant school.  NOCHI is a collaboration between restaurateurs Ti Martin, Dickie Brennan and Delgado Community College, the University of New Orleans and Tulane University.

The nonprofit group that owned the project put it up for bid in December.  Other bidders included co-working space Launchpad and plans for a civil rights museum.

The five-story ArtWorks building was supposed to be a huge artist hub, workshop, and studio.  Construction was finished but the idea never really came to fruition.

NOCHI estimates it will cost $18 million to renovate the building.  Financing will come from a variety of sources, includ tax credits, private dollars, and $9 from Delgado, and $7.2 million in debt from First NBC.
