Our friends at the Gambit report that the Mid-City branch of the New Orleans Public Library is moving to a new location at 4140 Canal Street and expects to open December 5.

The prior location at the American Can building closed in Oct. 22 after a weird lease lapse issue with American Can’s management.  The Library announced the move last May.

The new location is the old Automotive Life Insurance building, and the space will include dedicated areas for children, teens, foreign languages, and community meeting spaces.   The building was built in 1962 and designed by famed architects Curtis & Davis Architects.
