Developers Clayton Randle of Quiwa Holdings LLC and David Hecht of Formwork Development LLC secured approval from the Board of Zoning Adjustments for their 17 story hotel on Convention Center Blvd.

The developers are renovating a 5 story vacant warehouse at 1148 South Peters Street and also plan to build a 184 foot hotel tower on the vacant lot next door facing the convention center.

The approvals include variances for height, setback and number of floors.

The developers were seeing to go 60 feet above the 125-foot height limit and an increase in floors from 10 to 17.

The development would include a restaurant, ballroom, meeting space, three-story parking garage, and a courtyard connecting both buildings.  No word yet on what flag the developers will use.

The developers have an 18 month time frame to complete the project and plan on starting construction later this year. Since the building will go beyond the 125 height limit and a 20 foot set back from the property line, the development team is seeking a waiver from the city. The Board of Zoning Adjustment will consider the project on April 11th.
