Solar Panels Will Supply All Energy For New Airport

NOLA Airport Rendering 1The city is considering a $85 million plan as part of building a new airport that would provide enough power from solar panels to fully supply the entire airport.

The solar proposal is included in the cost projections for the $826 million airport revamp.

The preliminary plans call for enough solar panels to generate 10 megawatts of power, enough to provide energy for about 1,500 homes.

If it happens, it would make Armstrong the only airport in the country capable of running on self-generated solar power.
