Electric car maker Tesla Motors has filed plans to build a new service and delivery center in New Orleans.
Plans were filed with the city to convert the warehouse at 2801 Tchoupitoulas Street into a 16,000 square foot repair center and office, and a 30,000 square foot warehouse to house 70 vehicles. This will be the first Tesla service & delivery center on the Gulf Cost.
Plans were filed by San Francisco-based MBH Architects, which handles the design of Tesla’s service centers nationwide, according to their website. The Historic Districts Landmarks Commission approved the plans in May.
2801 Tchoupitoulas sits at the corner of Washington and Tchoupitoulas, and is owned by New Orleans-based Felicity Property Co. Felicity is also developing the well-appointed retail complex The Framework, planned for Magazine Street in the Lower Garden District.
