New York-based Feil Organization, which owns local properties like Lakeside Mall and the Galleria, has revealed plans to either build a new hotel or a mixed-use development on Tulane Avenue.
Feil purchased the site back in April for $5.6 million. The 73,000 square foot lot includes the 48,000 square foot former Dixie Brewing warehouse.
Feil recently filed a demolition request with the city, which included plans to either build an extended-stay hotel or a multi-family and retail mixed-use development at 2537 Tulane Avenue.
Plans submitted to the city propose two different ideas for the site. One is the hotel, which would be five stories, 88 rooms, and 59,000 square feet with 139 parking spaces.
The second idea is a 5 story mixed-use development that would include 20,000 square feet of retail, 35,000 square feet of apartment units for a total of 96 apartments, 150 covered parking spaces, and a toof top space for residents.
The demo request states that demolition will cost $200,000.
