New Orleans developers Clayton Randle of Quiwa Holdings LLC and David Hecht of Formwork Development LLC are planning a new hotel 17 story on Convention Center Blvd.

The developers are renovating a 5 story vacant warehouse at 1148 South Peters Street and also plan to build a 184 foot hotel tower on the vacant lot next door facing the convention center.

The development would include a restaurant, ballroom, meeting space, three-story parking garage, and a courtyard connecting both buildings.  No word yet on what flag the developers will use.

The developers have an 18 month time frame to complete the project and plan on starting construction later this year. Since the building will go beyond the 125 height limit and a 20 foot set back from the property line, the development team is seeking a waiver from the city. The Board of Zoning Adjustment will consider the project on April 11th.

Randle and Hecht are the same team behind the 221 Chartres project, a beautiful renovation of an old French Quarter building into apartments and retail.

Eskew+Dumez+Ripple Architects is the project architect.
