The City Planning Commission last week approved a proposal by the New Orleans Redevelopment Fund to convert a historic mid-city church into a 20 unit residential development.

The project calls for the conversion of the First United Baptist Church at 131 S. Jefferson Davis Parkway into 20 residential units, with the ability to add another 4 units in a second phase.

The adjacent two-story brick accessory building on the site will be demolished to allow for 28 parking spaces.

Albert Architecture is the architect, and Morphy Makofsky are the engineers.

The development next goes to City Council for a final approval.

The New Orleans Redevelopment Fund has worked on some other great projects in mid-city, currently have a condominium project nearby, and are raising a second fund for more projects.
