The new 144 Elk Luxury Lofts, located at 144 Elk Place in Downtown New Orleans is nearing completion and expected to open this summer.  The $20 million residential development project is a 240,000 square-foot building and will feature 96 luxury apartments, seven floors of indoor parking spaces and 8,500 square feet of ground floor retail space.

The building features a rooftop pool and terrace, fitness center, and storage units. The rooms themselves feature 12-foot cielings, stainless steel appliances, and high end fixtures.

The building, formerly known as the Elk Medical Plaza, was built in 1973 on Elk Place between Canal Street and Tulane Avenue.  The landmark 17-story, commercial high-rise building is presently undergoing significant interior and exterior renovations, transforming the property into high- profile, luxury lofts. The new building will feature one, two and three-bedroom units ranging between 525 and 1,935-square feet, most with amazing city and river views from private balconies.

The project is being developed by Baton Rouge developer Mike Wampold.  Wampold has a long history of successful projects, have developed over 4,000 multifamily units in Louisiana.  Wampold current manages over 700,000 square feet of commercial office space as well.
