1031 Canal, the $70 million high rise planned for the corner of Canal and Rampart Streets, is finally moving forward after it was able to obtain its demo permit from the city.

The building permit for the high rise on the edge of the French Quarter has been under review since last November, and seemed to have stalled out over a dispute on paying city fees.

According to Curbed, a permit was issued on April 25 to demo the former Woolworth building, which currently sits on top of the site of the new building.

Assuming the development continues to move forward, the project will eventually include 240 residences, 15 penthouses, three rooftop decks, an elevated dog park, two gyms, a movie theater, parking galore, and 65,000-square-feet of retail space.
