Hotel IntercontinentalThe 13 story Hotel Intercontinental at 444 St. Charles Avenue has been undergoing a major multi-million dollar renovation to its lobby, atrium and second floor.

We now know that a new flagship restaurant called Trenasse will be opening on the first floor of the hotel.

Trenasse is the bran child of Jim Richard, the chef and restaurateur who created the popular Stinky’s Fish Camp near Destin, Florida on Highway 30A.   The Intercontinental was looking for a new F&V concept and approached Mr. Richard in late 2013.

We hear that Trenasse means “a man made path through the marsh that leads to directly to the honey hole (or fish goldmine).”  Rumor has it that Trenasse will be an upscale Stinky’s.    Richard used to be the sous chef at Commander’s Palace.

The entire restaurant will take up 3,363 square feet, with 1,154 of that dedicated to the kitchen.  The 2,100 square foot dining area will be continually open to the hotel lobby during operation hours and closed after hours.

We can’t wait to see what’s in store!
