Playbuild Nola has applied to construct a new facility at 2828 Thalia Street.
PlayBuild NOLA is a start-up non-profit that’s been on a mission to transform under-utilized urban spaces into exciting kid-friendly environments for play and learning.
The new facility will serve as a community playspace designed for fun as well as learning. The site at 2828 Thalia houses the Imagination Playground – an architect-designed kit of life-sized building blocks as well as a wide array of other construction toys, games, and books.
Project Description according to the permit:
PLAYBUILD NOLA IS A START-UP NON-PROFIT BASED IN NEW ORLEANS. THE UNDER-UTILIZED URBAN SPACE WILL BE TRANSFORMED INTO AN EXCITING KID-FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT FOR PLAY AND LEARNING. THE FRONT OF THE SITE WILL BE MOSTLY AN OPEN GRASS PLAY AREA SURROUNDED BY TIRE PLANTERS. A SHIPPING CONTAINER CURRENTLY ON THE SITE WILL CONTINUE TO ACT AS STORAGE. A SMALL BUILDING AND PLATFORM WILL BE CONSTRUCTED WITH A RESTROOM AND KITCHENETTE; A CANOPY WILL COVER THESE AREAS TO PROVIDE SHELTER FROM THE ELEMENTS. 2 WATER FOUNTAINS AND A UTILITY SINK WILL BE PROVIDED ON SITE. THERE WILL BE A SMALL GARDEN IN THE BACK OF THE SITE ALONG WITH A HOSE BIB
