A rendering of a proposed new clinic at 2500 Louisiana via City of New Orleans.
The proposal to build a new dialysis facility to replace a blighted building at the corner of Freret and Louisiana Avenue received approval from the City Planning Commission last week. It now heads to the City Council for final approval.
The property was owned by Developer Peter Gardner, who told CanalStreetBeat that he sold the property to Nashville-based Oman-Gibson Associates to build the facility.
Plans call for a new almost 8,000 square foot facility. Since the use is larger than 5,000 square feet, it needs City Council approval.
The planning staff recommended approval of the request, and the City Planning Commission voted 5-0 to accept that recommendation.
The Neighborhood Conservation District Advisory Committee considered the demolition request last week, and voted unanimously in favor of recommending the demolition. The demo, along with the conditional use to allow for the dialysis clinic, will both require final approval by the City Council.
