Moxy Hotels is Marriott International’s new millennial-focused brand that launched its first boutique hotel in Milan, Italy in September 2014. The first Moxy New Orleans, and the second Moxy in the United States, is now open at 210 O’Keefe Ave.
The hotel targets millennial travelers and is host to fun features such as a photo booth and a 24/7 service to grab items on the go. Soon, Moxy New Orleans will launch additional programming with fortune tellers, DJs, and an acupuncture happy hour.
On July 14, the Moxy hosted its “Coming Out Party,” a freakshow, a theme that drew inspiration from the voodoo culture of New Orleans and ‘American Horror Story’ which was filmed in the city. Attendees were guided through various guest rooms with clues that revealed secrets and encouraged everyone to share what went down #AtTheMoxy.
108 tech-enabled rooms include perks such as motion sensor lighting, Internet TV in-room featuring Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Pandora and Crackle, plenty of power and USB outlets, and fast and free Wi-Fi.
Moxy is planning to open a second New Orleans location in 2017. Earlier this month, developers Barry and Lorraine Dinvaut secured the final approval from the City Council Thursday for the development of their 96 room five-story Moxy Hotel on St. Charles Avenue in the warehouse district. The proposed 96 room hotel will be the second Moxy by Marriott in the city.
