The word coworking was first used in 1999 to describe collaborative work. Today, coworking spaces are prevalent across the globe.
New Orleans has its own crop of coworking spaces. Over the last few years, the number of coworking spaces in the Big Easy has more than doubled.
We’ve rounded up as many of the New Orleans spaces and details we could find. Check out the list, in alphabetical order, below:
4.0 Schools
- About: This early-stage education incubator offers a space for coworking and private offices that explicitly supports education organizations.
- Year Founded: 2010
- Square Footage: 3,393
- Pricing: Depending on the whether you opt for a floating or dedicated desk, or an office, prices range from $100 to $450.
- Number of tenants: 10
- Number of individuals using the space on a given day: 40
Art Egg Studios
- About: Located in a former warehouse, Art Egg Studios provides temporary and long term rental for creative individuals and businesses. Current tenants include Youth BreakOut, Grassroots, the Atelier Vie distillery, National Medical Fellowships, Makers of New Orleans and Studio 101.
- Year Founded: 2001
- Square Footage: 50,000
- Pricing: $350-$3,500 with units of various layouts ranging from from 120 square feet to 5.000 square feet.

Beta
- About: Beta offers dedicated workstations and private offices for individuals, entrepreneurs and small businesses.
- Year Founded: 2012
- Pricing: Prices range from $495 to $895 per month.
Culture-Up
- About: This smaller space is tailored to cultural innovators to collaborate with peers and leaders within the creative industries. Each new member receives a one-year membership to the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce.
- Year Founded: 2015
- Square Footage: 180
- Pricing: They have space for a total of 12 individuals with the cost for one desk space at $250 and the “nook,” which is two desks, is $450.

Icehouse
- About: The Icehouse is an entrepreneurial environment housing designers, media artists, entertainment companies, startups, and social innovators.
- Year Founded: 2010

- Pricing: $500 per desk, which can fit two people.
Landing Zone
- About: Landing Zone is an entrepreneurial coworking, office and event space with tenants who are both military veterans and non-veterans. There is an additional 7,000 square feet of space for event rentals.

- Pricing: Monthly coworking starts at $200, bumps up to $300 for a permanent desk, and office space ranges from $600 to $1,600 per month.

Launch Pad
- About: Launch Pad is a place for small businesses and entrepreneurs to share a workspace. In February 2017 they moved over to a downtown office tower, more than doubling the size of their space.

- About: The BioInnovation Center offers various leasing options from cubicles to full office suites, in addition to small and large lab space options. - About: Propeller is a local nonprofit focused on solving the city’s biggest social and environmental challenges through entrepreneurship. The incubator welcomes individuals, businesses, nonprofits, students, and foundations who care about making a difference in the city.

Riverbend: A Creative Collective (Closed)
- About: Riverbend is not just a coworking space, but a place where creatives work, create and showcase their ideas. They recently relocated a few doors down from the original location.

The Blue House
- About: As one of the newer coworking spaces, The Blue House offers workspace for members are committed to collaborative work, civic discourse, and community engagement.

- About: The Shop at the CAC is New Orleans’ newest co-working space located on the upper floors of the historic Contemporary Arts Center in the city’s Innovation Corridor. The art-filled, full-service co-working space offers 24/7 access, free coffee and beer on tap, a furnished rooftop deck, conference room access, and more.
